I have spent over thirty years as an HR practitioner and leader. Much of my experience has been in high technology, working with large and small companies undergoing rapid growth and change.
My strength lies in forging strong relationships with clients. Working for highly successful organizations such as Intel Corporation and numerous venture-backed start-ups has resulted in a pragmatic approach to problem solving and conflict resolution, which produces practical solutions and effective results.
Prior to co-founding Affogato, I spent fourteen years at the Melita Group, where I built and led the HR Consulting practice. My years at Melita afforded me the opportunity to become a solutions-oriented consultant to companies across many industries. At Melita I built and worked with an exceptional team of consultants and clients.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from San Jose State University and am certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
When I am not working, I am an avid hockey fan, a lover of wine and food and enjoy everything that the outdoors has to offer on the Mendocino coast.
I am a certified HR professional with over twenty five years of experience as a generalist, business partner, and HR leader. Most of my experience is in small to mid-sized international technology companies facing challenges around their growth and changing business climate. I discovered about 10 years ago that I have a passion for working with non-profit organizations in my community.
I was lucky enough to be a member of the Melita Group HR Services team from 2009 until Lisa and I founded Affogato HR Consulting in 2018. My Melita clients included small and medium-sized technology firms with a global presence, non-profit organizations, and small companies in industries ranging from construction to banking to software development to biotech. I am so happy to have so many of those clients from my first days at Melita. Before consulting, I was VP, HR at publicly-traded CDC Software, held HR Director positions at privately-held Omneon and Velosel, and HR management roles at Cadence Design Systems and Sherpa.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from UCLA, which taught me how to think and solve problems logically. I have held HR certifications since 1993 and today I am a Senior Professional in Human Resources with an additional state-specific certification in California (SPHR-CA) and a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), I also hold the Society for Human Resources Management SHRM-SCP certification.
In my free time I enjoy food, wine, books and travel, in no particular order. My monthly book club provides at least 3 of those 4. While 2019 travel included another trip to China, plus trips to India, The Netherlands, New York City, Reno, Spokane, Southern California, Banff National Park, and Mendocino. 2020 was a year of staying close to home, so we explored the area around San Jose. In 2021 I’m looking forward to venturing out again, starting with seeing friends near Nashville.
